My sister had a milestone birthday so as a family we decided to get her a very special present. We got in touch with Ross to write a song for her. He replied with a quick recording of a tune he was working on to see if this was the sort of thing we were after. We really liked the tune so went with it. The track he came back to us with blew our socks off, it sounds incredible. Ross and his friends who joined him for the recording put a lot of effort in to crafting something really special. We have framed the sheet music for her but the real delight is in the music and the story we could add to the tune by giving it a name that is special to her.

How wonderful, unusual yet, so personal, is the gift of a specially commissioned piece of music. And I was privileged to recieve one, created by Ross, on my birthday. Named and written to evoke beautiful memories of a land I once visited with its mountains, rivers and forests. The flow of the piece, the haunting sound is so lovely, and the written notes enabled me to play alongside on the piano. A unique experience - gifted to me by family, that has brought me a lot of pleasure. Thank you Ross.

After following Ross and Treacherous Orchestra for over 10 years. Sue and I chose "Easter Island/ Rapa Nui" as the tune we walked into our Civil Partnership "Oor Wedding" to in 2013.
After having a couple of pipe lessons with Ross in January this year, learning some of his tunes and hearing more of his solo work we started to discuss how perfect it would be to have our own tune "Oor Tune" commissioned for our 10 year wedding anniversary this year. We mentioned this to Sue's Dad Don who generously offered to gift us the commission but also to have the track etched onto wood so we can forever display it at home.
We were able to discuss how we wanted "Oor Tune" to be with Ross as a continuation of Easter Island, starting with the whistle then in the second part incorporating the pipes. The result has been breathtaking and a perfect representation of us.
Thank you so much Ross, you captured our wishes so perfectly in a piece that we will be proud to share with friends, listen to (and hopefully one day play).
